There are various spellings for this family such as Shrentzel or Schrentzel or Schrantzl, etc. The descent to the Reis family is via a number of Schrentzel family members.
It is important to note that the available information on this family is somewhat limited and potentially confused. Below is OUR version which may or may not resemble the actual one. Certainly the dates of births and deaths (when available) indicate that a lot more sorting out needs to be done.

There are THREE branches that flow from the Schrentzel to the Reis family and we assume they all start from Yitzhak ben Nachmann Schrentzel who married Chava Treves, the daughter of Eliezer ben Naphtali Hirz Treves and Jutta HaLevi Tausigg. The three branches are:
- Nachman Schrentzel
- A Daughter who married Yitzak Klauber
- Mordecai Yechiel Shrentzel
By claiming the above. we are also making Eliezer Yehiel Lipman Shrentzel and Mordecai Yechiel Shrentzel brothers but their dates would not support this.
